IMATS Goodies: Part 3

Face Atelier is another Canadian Brand that I love. Their Ultra Foundations are amazing; I carry the evens in my kit. Other then the foundations, their lip glazes are amazing and Peach is a colour that looks amazing on everyone. The lip glosses were 3 for $30 which is a great deal because they are usually $20/each. I picked up plum and cameo and what I thought was Shiraz but I was given another cameo in error. No worries though, I know of a certain someone who will make good use of the extra cameo that I got.

IMATS Goodies: Part 2

Yaby is a Canadian Professional Brand that was created by Toronto makeup artist Liz Yu. It was created out of a need to be able to have a good kit that was condensed. The cool thing about her palettes is that "each palette features built in stainless steel mixing palette, magnetic base, shock absorbing foam inserts with easy to clean surface".

I picked up two highlighting powders is PF093(bronze) and PF090(dark), three brow powders in BP004, BP006 which is perfect for natural redheads and BP002. I also picked up the freestyle palette to put them into. I didn't actually intend to purchase anything from Yaby but once I got swatching some of the colours, I couldn't resist.

IMATS Goodies: Part 1

On Saturday, I attended the first ever IMATS Toronto.
I arrived early so that I would be able to purchase everything that was on my list of things to get. After walking around to see all the exhibitors, my first stop was the OCC booth. I checked out and swatched a bunch of the loose colour concentrates as well as the lip tars. I was a little bit upset that the newest colour "Indashio" wasn't there;I think that I will order it on-line at a later time.
I picked up "Flicker" and "Ironic" in the loose colour concentrates and "Hush" "Grandma" "Melange" and Clear in the Lip Tars.

I also picked up a starter airbursh kit complete with the gun, compresser, a carrying case, foundations, blushes/contour, and primary colours. I ended up getting the portable compressor rather then the new Iwata Ninja compressor which weighs more and may be a bit more awkward when you are travelling to meet clients.

I'm really looking forward to using these products; especially the airbrush system.

M.A.C. Pro Masterclass: Runway Trends

I'm a bit late posting this, but last Monday, I attending the M.A.C. Pro Masterclass on runway trends. The class was $100 but you were able to redeem that for product. The presentation was really nice and Jane the M.A.C. Senior Artist who was facilitating the class showed us two different looks fresh on the spring/summer 10 runways. Sorry no pics- I wouldn't be allowed to show them so I didn't take any.

The first look has to my favourite. It consisted of a sheer wash of colour using Tan Pigment placed in the crease, generous coats of mascara, and #7 lashes. For the checks, Lilicent Blushcream was placed on the apples of the cheeks and blended and Pearl Cream Colour Base was used to highlight the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose and above the cupid's bow. The Pearl CCB was lightly dusted with Silver Dusk Iridescent loose powder. Now because the rest of the face was kept light the colour on the lips were amped up with Morange lipstick. As four foundation, it was kept to a minimum and only placed where needed; same thing for concealer.

I don't have all the products used to create the look but here's my re-creation of it using the things that are in my stash.

FreshDeals.com

Everyone likes a bargain right? I know I do.
Mike from FreshDeals.com shares with us a few tips on how to source out a good deal.

How many times have you wondered how to save money on makeup? Going out and building your makeup kit/bag can be extremely costly; especially if you’re shopping for name-brand items. Saving money on makeup can be easy – you just have to know where to look.

Many people visit name-brand manufacturer’s websites, but there’s usually not a great deal to be found and you still need to pay for shipping. You can; however, save money online by shopping around on the Internet.
How do you start? What’s the best place to go? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for. Places like Ebay and Craigslist are great for big-ticket items, but for smaller things like makeup, these sites may not work out that well.

There are sites on the Internet that offer deals on everything from televisions to your makeup, and this is likely where you’re going to find what you’re looking for. FreshDeals.com provides the ability to shop for name-brand product. You’ll be able to find everything from Chanel to Max Factor at bargain prices, along with a great Questions and Answers forum to help in making an informed shopping decision.

Kit Tested: Boots No7 Cleansing Cloths

I picked up a pack of these cleaning wipes after reading a post about them on The Makeup Loft. Now I have to say that I'm not a fan of makeup removing wipes because I find that they leave a residue on the skin. I was surprised that these don't leave a residue and that they worked perfectly on a shoot that I did on Saturday where I needed to quickly change a look on a model.

Review: DDF 5% Glycolic Acid Daily Cleansing Pads

I briefly mentioned these in my "in and out" post last week but I thought that I would do a review of these in case you were interested in purchasing them.
Let me first start off my saying that I have combination skin that's sensitive. My skin doesn't turn over properly and because it doesn't my skin almost always feels rough and gross; and manual exfoliators just aren't cutting it.

According to the DDF website, "keeps skin clear and looking fresh. Gently exfoliates to clarify. For normal/oily skin concerns."

When I first started using this product, I was only using it at night so that my skin could get used to the glycolic acid in them. After about two weeks of using it once a day, I started using them in the morning to replace my toner.I've been using these cleansing pads for a month now and I can honestly say that my skin looks and feels so much better then it did before I started using them. I'm not breaking out as much and my skin feels nice and soft. I've also noticed a significant difference in the appearance of my acne scaring; they're not a dark and the fad a lot faster then they did before.

Overall, this is an amazing product that I will continue to use because of the results that I have seen over the last month. The cost of these is $36 (CDN) for 56 cleansing pads and they can be purchased at DDF.com, Sephora.com and sephora stores. If you try them, let me know what you think about it.
